The Short RunDown of the Week
This week was all about getting outside to enjoy the stupendous fall weather while admiring the beautiful leaves on the trees along the trails. I continued to love my Peloton strength training classes, and this week Rebecca upped it a notch for three fantastic and difficult sessions, which I’m supplementing with my own bodyweight core exercises to keep my back happy. In fact, I even mentioned to my balance and stretching students this week how much these intensive strength workouts have been helping my own balance, and encouraged them to spend more time in the weight room!
Overview of the Week
Before getting into each day’s workouts, here’s an overview of my workouts from this past week. Scroll beyond the infographic for daily details…
Sunday
Walking: 3.08 miles
• Average pace: 17:33 minute/mile
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 148 feet
• Start time: 1:59 PM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 65° and sunny, climbing to 67°

Stretching: Peloton 5-Minute Post-Run Stretch with Matt Wilpers
I had such a relaxing day puttering around the house, working on an upcoming national park recap, doing a little client prep work for the week, and getting outside for a walk. Later in the day, I took the time for a quick stretch before settling in with my book before bedtime.
Monday
Strength training: Peloton 45-Minute HiLit+: Lower Body W3/4 D1 with Rebecca Kennedy
Strength training: 17 minutes of core and stability (bicycle crunch, dead bug, Pilates swimmer, birddog, forearm plank, single-leg balance on pad)
My morning started much earlier than planned! I woke up way before my alarm, eyes wide open, and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I got up at 3:27 AM. As a result, I was wrapping up my own strength training well before seeing my first client, and used my newfound spare time wisely by taking care of some paperwork. I had fully expected to take an afternoon nap, but that just wasn’t in the cards; additionally, I skipped my afternoon walk because I was quite tired. Our bedroom lights were out by 9 PM, and you bet I had a fabulous night of sleep!

• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 197 feet
• Start time: 1:46 PM
• Location: neighborhood trails

• Bike: Peloton+
• Average pace: 13.9 MPH
• Surface: N/A
• Elevation gain: N/A
• Start time: 4:44 PM
• Location: basement
• Weather: 68° in the basement, 70° and sunny outside
• What I wore: shorts and sports bra
Stretching: Peloton 5-Minute Post-Ride Stretch with Emma Lovewell
Full of energy from a great night’s sleep, I got outside for a walk in the beautiful weather. Later, when my husband suggested we hit the stationary bikes in the basement since we hadn’t made it outside for a ride, I happily joined him. I really appreciate that we have two bikes in our home gym, and I even took the Peloton space ride that Coco mentioned she had taken last week.
Wednesday
Strength training: Peloton 45-Minute HiLit+: Upper Body W3/4 D3 with Rebecca Kennedy
Strength training: 20 minutes of core and stability (crunch, oblique crunch, dead bug, Pilates swimmer, birddog, bridge pump, forearm plank, bear plank with shoulder taps, Copenhagen plank)
Walking: 3.07 miles
• Average pace: 15:31 minute/mile
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 111 feet
• Start time: 12:25 PM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 65° and cloudy
• What I wore: shorts, s/s shirt, and visor
I’m still loving my Peloton strength workouts and eagerly try to complete them first thing in the morning when I’m fresh, before seeing clients. Once I finished training my morning clients, I got outside for a walk and couldn’t resist stopping to take a picture of my neighbor’s gorgeous maple tree.
Thursday
Walking: 4.25 miles
• Average pace: 15:42 minute/mile
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 186 feet
• Start time: 5:59 AM
• Location: neighborhood circle
• Weather: 51° and mostly cloudy
• What I wore: shorts, s/s shirt, and nylon shell
Core: Peloton 20-Minute Core Strength with Emma Lovewell
I was back on track with my early morning virtual cardio workout with Kim after a week off, so we had plenty to catch up on! Later, I was this close to taking a Peloton cycling class, but stopped myself and asked why. I’d already completed a cardio session and didn’t need more, so instead, I fired up a Peloton core strength class for a well-rounded finish.
Friday
Strength training: Peloton 45-Minute HiLit+: Lower Body W3/4 D5 with Rebecca Kennedy
Strength training: 18 minutes of core and stability (bicycle crunch, dead bug, Pilates swimmer, birddog, bridge pumps, high plank, single-leg balance on pad)
Balance and stretching: 45 minutes
My morning kicked off with a bodyweight core workout before training a client, followed by a fantastic and tough Peloton strength class. Around 8 AM, I glimpsed outside at the sun hitting the maple tree in our backyard and couldn’t resist taking a picture! Later, teaching my weekly balance and stretching class rounded out the day’s workouts very nicely.
Saturday
Walking: 3.08 miles
• Average pace: 16:25 minute/mile
• Surface: paved
• Elevation gain: 90 feet
• Start time: 3:20 PM
• Location: neighborhood trails
• Weather: 63° and cloudy
• What I wore: shorts, s/s shirt, and visor
Stretching: Peloton 5-Minute Post-Run Stretch with Adrian Williams
After a fun morning with family, I eventually headed out for a walk with Betsy. I skipped going to the 5:30 Mass because I was worried about trick-or-treaters darting across dark streets while driving home, but I shouldn’t have worried at all—we didn’t get our first group of kids until 6:45 PM!
