Meet Your Coach and Chief Trail-Blazer

My adventure didn’t start on a mountain, but in a gymnasium. I began with a BS in Health and Physical Education from Virginia Tech, followed by spending two years teaching the fundamentals of movement. While the fluorescent lights were bright, I knew my true calling was on the open road and the challenging trail.

I traded the classroom for the training floor, launching a three-decade-long career dedicated to human potential. I’m a Certified Weight Management Consultant and Certified Conditioning Specialist (NSPA), and a Road Runners Club of America Certified Running Coach. I’ve leveraged this arsenal to coach runners through intense programs, guiding others to their own epic accomplishments.

The Regret That Launched 40 Marathons

My high school track days were a flash, but my biggest ‘what if’ remains: not running cross country at Virginia Tech. I missed the mud, the mountains, and the camaraderie. That feeling of unfinished business became my engine.

At forty, I decided to give myself an unforgettable birthday present: my first marathon. It was the Marine Corps Marathon, a soaking, glorious baptism by rain—and I walked away a Boston qualifier! The taste of challenge was addictive. Just four short weeks later, I joined a new crew of friends to tackle the legendary JFK 50-Miler. The adrenaline was intoxicating.

Today, my résumé is written in sweat, miles, and personal bests: 40 marathons, a library of half marathons, and an uncountable string of shorter feats. I’m still pushing the limits, but now on my bike.

My fitness and adventure philosophy is simple: consistency is the ultimate endurance fuel. We stay healthy, fit, and young by weaving strength, cardio, and mindful nutrition into the fabric of our lives.

My goal here is to give you a compelling read over your morning coffee—a little entertainment, a lot of inspiration. Let’s start the day right, and maybe even plan your next great adventure!
