~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…

It’s time again to join in on the fun and clear my conscience of recent running, cycling, fitness, nutrition, and life in general faux pas. I know I’ll feel better when I’m done, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll give you a laugh or two in the process!

I gymfess: On our recent trip to Florida I forgot to pack workout clothes to wear in the gym. How does a fitness nut like me do that? Luckily, we stopped over to visit our kids in Charlotte the first night and I borrowed a couple of tanks (I had shorts packed for walks and hiking) from my daughter-in-law to take along on the trip.

I photofess: Kim and I have the same iPhone, yet apparently not the same photography skills. Either that or her street lights are much brighter than ours. LOL Inevitably, when we take our dark-o’thirty pictures for our collage on Thursdays after our virtual cardio workout together, her picture is clear and crisp and mine is dark and blurry. I need to spend some time figuring out what my problem is, but in the meantime I’ll just chalk it up to operator error.

I walkfess: When I walk, I usually jog across the street crossing which is four times in every mile if I’m walking on our neighborhood circle. As a result, my walking pace is a bit faster than it would be otherwise. I walk fast, but I’m no speed walker!

I delayed-in-trying-out-a-product-fess: I returned to Costco two full boxes of hand warmers and toe warmers that were defective (expiration date wasn’t until 7/31/27), but we didn’t try them out when we first bought them early last fall. When I opened them in late January, not a single one worked. Fortunately, we had some much, much older Hot Hands brand that worked which I was able to use on days I preferred them over my rechargeable heated gloves. Costco didn’t blink an eye in accepting the return, and I later wished I’d asked if they’d gotten a lot of other returns on the product.

I runfess: I’m officially calling my morning core routine ‘The Great Evacuation.’ Why did it take me thirty years running to realize that crunches are basically a physical ‘on’ switch for my digestive system? Back in my high-mileage heyday, I was a regular at every emergency porta-potty in the NOVA area. Had I known that a little abdominal stimulation was the key to a pre-run clearing, I could have retired my panic pace years ago. My abs are tight, but thankfully, my morning schedule is even tighter! 😉

There you have it, my most recent fessions; and you can bet that it feels good to get another set off of my chest!

  • Questions:
  • • Have you ever bought something that you had to return months later because you didn’t try it out right away?
  • • How do your pictures turn out when you don’t have a lot of light? ~ not so hot
  • • What are your runfessions?
