After parking, we took a quick look at the map—though it was clear the trail to the overlook was a straightforward shot.
Hardly a hike, we left the car and followed a short, stone-paved trail directly to the overlook.
At the Grandview Main Overlook, a pristine bluebird sky provided a stunning backdrop for the sweeping views below. We watched as the New River wound around the bluff in a dramatic horseshoe formation—a scene perfectly framed for photography.

Questions
- • What is the most breathtaking natural wonder you’ve encountered? ~ That’s a tough question because I’ve been fortunate enough to see so many incredible places. Some of my favorites include the gravity-defying hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, the delicate stone spans of Arches, and the sheer scale of the Grand Canyon—specifically the stark, dramatic contrast between the North and South Rims. I’m also constantly drawn back to the thundering power of Niagara Falls and the silent, ancient presence of the giant redwoods in Sequoia. However, the one image that truly sticks with me—even forty-three years later—is a ‘moonscape’ I stumbled upon in Oregon. I remember jumping out of the car and racing across a roadside berm to find a landscape so alien and vast it felt like another planet. I didn’t have my camera with me and have always regretted not walking back to the car to get it, so I have no photo of the sign or the view—only a distant, indelible memory.
- • What is the shortest, easiest hike you’ve ever completed? ~ this was probably it
- • Have you visited New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia? ~ This was our first visit.

I love all of the adventures your bikes take you to! It’s hard to pick one place that I think is the most beautiful! One of the most interesting places I’ve been is Petra, Jordan (right out of Raiders of the lost ark movies)
I just looked up pictures from Petra, Jordan; very cool!
