Back Outside Soon?
I’m still on my spin bike, but should be back outside next week, maybe even later today. I’ll start with relatively flat routes – the slightest reach or lift over my head with my right arm pulls on my wound which isn’t something I need to do on my bike unless I’m riding up a steep hill or if I’d crash and try to catch myself. And even though I’m stuck inside on my spin bike, it was a good week of workouts. Fingers crossed that next week’s rundown includes some outdoor cycling pictures!

Still stuck inside on my spin bike I pounded out some miles and then walked to the grocery store/pharmacy to take care of a couple of errands. I do love multitasking with a walk whenever I can! And as a bonus, this walk earned me the September Weekend Walking Garmin badge.

I pulled off another multi-tasking hour and hopped on my indoor bike while training a virtual client (I normally train her while sitting at my desk so why not sit on my bike?) before heading out to make some house calls and then finish up the day in the 55+ gym. BTW, I train clients in four different locations/ways: in my home gym, in their home, in the 55+ gym, and virtually.

This time of year (and in the spring) the 991 miles and single time zone between Kim’s and my hometown’s makes our pictures a stark contrast of each other and I’m always grateful Kim is willing to get up so early to meet me for our virtual cardio workout together.
My ride earned me the Garmin September Ride to 200 badge.

Just when I thought my arm might be healed enough to get outside for a trial ride, I was stuck inside thanks to our front doors getting refinished and needing to stay slightly ajar until the finish dried. Once I’d finished my indoor ride, my husband and I took down screens and cleaned windows, prepping them for the painters.
Later I drove instead of walking to church. I’ve decided that I get home too late if I walk (making dinner really late) and will reserve walking to Sunday’s.
Questions:
- • Do you live where you’re able to run errands on foot instead of driving? ~ sadly, only a few stores for me
- • How was your weather this past week? ~ We had another delightful week with the exception of Wednesday which was drizzly and cool all day.
- • Which workout did you enjoy most this past week? ~ The weather was so gorgeous on Monday that I could have walked forever (my feet would have eventually started complaining, though).
And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!

You had such a strong week, Debbie!
Even though you’re “stuck” indoors, you’re still cranking out some serious miles on that spin bike. I love how you turn your walks into errands, so efficient!
I’m lucky that I can do all my errands on foot too: shops, post office, bank, gym, church, friends, family… everything’s within walking distance (I think this is typical for a European city).
You’re so close to being back outside – those first flat routes are going to feel amazing!
Thanks, Catrina! Suburbia just isn’t very well set up for walking errands here, but I do what I can.
I can walk to a few places for errands (coffee shops, bakeries, library, smaller grocery stores, etc.) But most of my errands are done by car. I try to get in as many walks as I can especially these days while I’m taking it easy with my hip! I’ve also been inside on my spin bike this week, but I’m hoping to get outside to run again soon!
It’s similar for me with walking and taking care of errands.
I hope you’re able to run outside again soon, but don’t push it!
We sure did have a nice weather week around here! I wish these kinds of days lasted longer. Unfortunately not too many places I can walk and do errands either but I do whenever I can!
Yes, I could do those kinds of days for months!
We are too tucked into our neighborhood to be able to walk for errands. Yesterday I noticed a couple walking with Starbucks cups, which is at least 2 miles away, so I guess it’s possible — but not practical.
I hope you are fully recovered soon.
Thanks, Coco!
I can see how outdoor cycling and a few other things wasn’t ideal while your arm was healing. You’ve kept busy though doing all the other things you could still do!
I have walking distance to everything, if 8,6 km counts as walking distance! To me it does, but probably not in bad weather. We’re quite much dependent on a car but that’s the price to pay if you want to live in a rural area.
I did what I could, and quite honestly, not being able to ride outside wasn’t as frustrating as I expected it to be.
Yes, give me your weather right now!!!!!!!!! 60-70 with low humidity sounds like a dream. Glad you were able to get out walking to take advantage of it, even though for your cycling you were stuck inside.
Thank goodness for the spin bike, right? You’re not losing any fitness while waiting for your wound to heal up.
Thanks, Jenny! And you know I’d share our gorgeous weather with you if I could. 😉
As you know, I’m on the NW edge of town, but we have a new convenience store that came in last December. Just recently, the city FINALLY put in a sidewalk, so I’ll be walking there a lot for milk or last-minute “convenience” things on occasion. After so many recent “inside” rides last week, I was excited to get out on my real bike yesterday and today 😉
I know you’re happy to have that sidewalk in place finally. And yay for getting back outside on your bike.
Refinishing (or maybe painting?) our front door is something that is on my to do list. It’s almost perfect weather for that around here. The only place I can walk to from my house is the ice cream parlor. Too bad I don’t need to go there more often! 🙂 I hope you are able to get back outside for cycling soon!
I’m lucky there’s no ice cream shop within walking distance. 😉
My husband used to sand and refinish our front and garage doors twice a year to keep them looking their best – they face south and take a beating. Last year he found a new marine product that lasts about five years so we had the garage doors done using it. They still look great so we had the front doors refinished.
Very nice work!
Our nearest retail outlets are about 2 miles away. Yes, I could walk to the grocery store, but it’s usually so freaking hot and miserable that I’d rather not. If I had to I would.
We had some weird and stormy weather last week. I didn’t love it, especially the days I got caught in rain. Gross.
Yes, walking to take care of errands in Florida in the summer sounds miserable. Stay safe while out running in those storms!
I don’t have a car here (or a valid license since my US one no longer will be accepted after 1 year of residence) so I definitely do all errands by walking! I don’t miss driving though but London is set up for walking. When back in Minneapolis, we definitely drove so much more, though within our neighborhood we could get to the grocery store and restaurants via walking.
I hope your arm heals up and you can get back to it soon! Great that you have the indoor spin bike as an option.
Thanks, Jessie!
